Regular Checkups in
Inverness, Florida

At Gulf Coast Dental Associates, we advise all of our patients to visit us for a regular checkup at least once every six months.

A regular dental checkup is the best opportunity for our team to check for and treat any problems or issues that may have developed since your last visit. All checkups at our practice include a thorough examination, a professional cleaning and when necessary, digital X-rays.

Full Examination

This examination gives our experts a chance to check for any problems or issues that a patient may be experiencing. Even if a patient isn’t aware of any problems, a professional examination may still detect troubling symptoms or the signs of an issue at an early stage when it is most treatable. During your examination, we will use special dental tools to thoroughly examine the teeth and gums. By doing this, we can check for any signs of tooth decay or gum disease, while also seeing how previous restorations and repairs have held up. If we find anything that requires special attention, we will be sure to let the patient know so they can schedule a follow-up visit.

Professional Cleaning

A professional cleaning is what most people picture when they think of a regular dental checkup. A cleaning starts by using tools to carefully remove any tartar and plaque that has built-up between the teeth and on their surfaces. Next, we will cleanse and polish the patient’s teeth to remove unwanted surface stains and buildups. Finally, we will floss between each tooth. This process is highly effective, and it will leave the patient with freshened breath for many months.

Digital X-Rays

Taking digital X-rays is the best way to detect any problems or issues that may be hidden from the naked eye. We use advanced radiography devices to take detailed images of the teeth and oral structures. The images are then be uploaded to a monitor so that any important findings can be studied and shared with the patient. Some dental health concerns that are commonly detected using digital X-rays include tooth decay, gum disease, jawbone deterioration, oral cysts, and oral cancer.
